Nabila Khashoggi engages young readers to explore different cultures and traditions with the a graphic novel series entitled “Spartan and the Green Egg“. Using a colourful picture format and a lively stories, the focus is on a group of friends and a freindly alien who are aided by alien technology. They travel to a new destination in each new book and become aware of enviromental dangers which they think of ways to contribute some help towards.

Once considered undesirable forms of literature for children and young adults, graphic novels and comic books are steadily gaining in popularity as readers become familiar with the versatile format, which many consider an art form. Some comics or graphic novels emphasize humor or politics, while others focus on character development, drama, and excellent artwork.

The difference between comic books and graphic novels is that the latter works are generally longer, often book length. Narratives sometimes continue from book to book to form a series of interconnected stories. An interest in these collections has increased, and now many public and school libraries include them, due to their large fan base.
